Throughout this three-year apprenticeship, we will help you grow into an experienced technician, becoming an expert on a wide range of heavy vehicles including trucks, buses, coaches and even marine engines.Roles and Responsibilities - You Will:
Work alongside a qualified Technician to learn how to carry out repairs according to Scania procedures in a safe and responsible manner
Be trained on how to service, maintain and repair Scania vehicles which have the latest technology
Learn the fundamentals of heavy vehicle technologies - heavy vehicle chassis, engine, fuels, transmissions, hydraulic and air braking, electrical systems, and testing
Be taught how to setup accessories and specific equipment on the vehicles
Ensure appropriate work logs are kept for all vehicles, and all job cards and service sheets are completed in a timely manner
Keep high levels of morale and focus to ensure the highest possible levels of productive efficiency, quality of workmanship, and production finish in order to sustain growth in customer confidence in the service provided
Represent Scania in a professional and courteous manner when dealing with customers and the general public
Communicate effectively with other departments in the business

About You:
No previous experience is required for this opportunity. We’re looking for individuals who are enthusiastic about learning new skills and have a genuine interest in repairing and maintaining vehicles. Main Role Duties / Scope:
Carry out preventative maintenance to ensure machines are in safe working condition for production.
Contribute to preventative maintenance development and maintenance schedules.
Respond to breakdowns in a timely manner and identify route cause(s) of the breakdown and implement the corrective solution where possible. If this is not possible, the matter needs to be escalated as a priority.

We offer the opportunity to work and learn at the same time to achieve your Advanced Apprenticeship Standard to Level 3. By the end of your apprenticeship, you will have developed the knowledge and skills to:
Produce the required volume of components within the required timescales to high quality standards, making use of CAD/CAM systems and drawings as appropriate
Set, operate and program CNC machines producing high quality complex components with maximum efficiency
Accurately plan the production method and create programmes to the customers specifications
Operate the relevant inspection equipment to ensure the components are produced to the required quality standards
Liaise with your manager and team to ensure the manufacturing processes are running at optimum efficiency
Plan and specify tooling requirements for production, including any jigs and fixtures or special cutting tools
To work to tight tolerances and check your own work during production runs
Carry out inspection, including first-off inspection of products using a CMM and inspection equipment
Support and advise other employees when required ensuring all operations are carried out efficiently and accurately to the customers’ requirements, drawing tolerances and specification
Adhere to, create, and maintain standard operating procedures for machine processes and other operations
Contribute to Continuous Improvement activities

Training both on the job and via taught sessions at New College Swindon
The qualification(s) required is: EAL L3 Extended diploma in Machining (Development Knowledge) or Pearson BTEC L3 diploma in Advanced manufacturing engineering (Machining) (Development Technical Knowledge) or City and Guilds Machining technician (1273)

Attending block release to the Daimler/Remit Training Academy in Coventry, CV2 2TA every 2 months. All costs of your hotel food and accommodation plus all travel arrangements are covered by the Marshall Truck & Van.
Training:Training is delivered in the workplace and on block release to the Daimler Training Academy in Derby. There are a total of 16 x 1 week blocks over the 32 month programme. The costs of hotel accommodation, food and travel are met by the employer and there will be no cost to you.

Use a range of diagnostic equipment

Report faults using company procedures and recommend suitable further actions
Follow recognised repair procedures to complete a wide range of repairs, including those which involve complex procedures, or in-depth knowledge
Test the function of repaired and fitted components
Adhere to business processes and complete documentation following workplace procedures
Use ICT to create emails, word-process documents and carry out web-based searches
Complete a range of services and inspect and prepare a vehicle to the required quality standard for handover to the customer
