The vocational and academic training aspects are separated and delivered by separate teams. The vocational training and assessment is conducted, more often than not, on site according to the employers wishes.
Notice of dates is agreed well in advance of a site visit. Training and assessment is conducted both on and off the job, according to the needs of the course and the learner. You will be paired with a mentor to help you learn how about:
Full wall/ceiling replastering
Drylining
Patch plastering.
Specialist DPC rendering

The duties and responsibilities involved in this role include:
Supporting the dentist in all aspects of patient care, this includes getting the appropriate instruments ready, mixing materials, cleaning and sterilising all instruments, developing x-rays and filing appropriately, maintaining cleanliness of all filters/suction/hand-piece turbines, preparing impressions for dispatch to the laboratory and ensuring patient comfort and confidentiality at all times.
You may also help with reception work - making appointments, taking payments, dealing with paperwork and meeting and reassuring patients.

Providing chair side assistance to the dentist
Ensure the care and welfare of patients
Preparing and maintaining the clinical environment
Sterilisation of instruments
Mixing materials
Charting on the computer
Complying with strict cross infection procedures
Developing digital x-rays
Ensure adequate stocks of materials are within the surgery
Carrying out some reception and administrative tasks
Training:This course is delivered using a blended delivery model, an apprentice will spend 2 days per month at Bradford College undertaking classroom-based learning in addition to regular workplace assessments.
Upon successful completion of this apprenticeship, the apprentice will be awarded the following:
Dental nursing apprenticship Level 3 ( GDC 2023)
Functional Skills in maths and English Level 2 (if applicable)
Training Outcome:There are a range of post registration courses available for dental nurses looking to further their education. Attend the site pre-start meetings to understand the construction issues and details with the Senior / Quantity Surveyor
Assist with the compiling of tender packages for all sub-contract trades including procuring material quotes from suppliers
Receive tenders and assist with the analysis sheet for each trade comparing tender levels
Liaise with Construction Department on performance and compliance
Assist with the production of sub-contract orders to accord with site programmed build requirements
To liaise with the Quantity Surveyor / Director and provide all necessary forecast and site budget information to meet requirements
Assist with the control and reporting of post contract cost movements to provide such monthly reporting as required
Ensure invoices/applications for payments are processed in accordance with Standard Terms and Conditions of Contract
