Horticulture or Landscape Construction Operative apprentice
Role Purpose: To provide horticultural and landscaping support across Eden, whilst being provided with on-the-job training. The role will involve working in all horticultural areas at Eden, including the Rainforest biome, Mediterranean Biome, 30-acre Outdoor Garden, Eden’s bespoke plant-growing nursery, Eden’s 200-acre estate and grounds, and occasionally with hard landscaping and horticultural technical support teams. Key Accountabilities To support and learn from the horticultural team in jobs such as pruning, planting, seed sowing, watering, weeding and all plant care along with habitat management. To assist and learn about the creation and maintenance hard and soft landscaping – such as hedgerows, walling, fencing, pathways and bridleways. To learn about and share the responsibility for the use, care and maintenance of hand tools and small machinery used in horticultural tasks, including equipment for grass and hedge cutting, strimming, planting, pruning, and the use of golf buggies. To continuously and enthusiastically strive to increase your own horticultural knowledge - including plant care and knowledge and plant identification, pests and diseases, soil management, sustainable practices, garden management and design and efficient working practices. Demands of the Role Education & qualifications: There are no formal qualifications required for this position; however, the job holder will be required to have a good level of literacy and numeracy. Knowledge & skills The job holder will be expected to have a basic-level understanding of plants and the natural world and a thirst to learn more. An interest in and love for horticulture and a desire to embark on a career in horticulture are essential. The job holder will be required to have an intermediate level of IT skills. Decision-making: Decisions will be low level and routine in nature, with minimal business impact. Any complex or difficult decision-making will be guided and supported by the mentorship of a senior team member. Resourcefulness The job holder will need to collaborate with colleagues and senior staff to devise innovative and creative ways to improve horticultural efficiency. Communication & visitor experience: The job holder is required to engage, communicate and interact with colleagues, horticulturalists from other gardens and members of the public and both verbally and in writing. Operational environment: The role requires physical effort daily, such as bending, lifting and carrying, digging, working on slopes and in cold, hot or inclement weather. Construction Site Supervisor Apprentice - VINCI Building - London & North
Joining our team will mean working on our sites in and around the London North area. The role would include a mixture of office and site based tasks to give you the well-rounded experience required to see schemes from conception into construction and completion. This would involve exposure to Health, Safety & Environment management, Planning and Co-ordination and Commercial management. Once you have completed the departmental rotations you will choose your preferred career pathway and work towards technical and professional qualifications, in that area. Responsibilities You will work with the site management team to ensure the projects are completed safely, on time, on budget and to the correct specifications. You will spend time in our different departments, such as site engineering, construction management, design, planning, digital, commercial and pre-construction. The Contractor Support Specialist is a sales and support role, designed to generate contractor discretionary business in a specific area while providing localized technical support. Duties/Responsibilities, Core knowledge: * Ensure safe execution and delivery of all roofing services and operations. * Provide a variety of technical training sessions in the contractor's office and field applications. * Provide hands on application training and supervision of roof coatings and installation. * Perform roof inspections reports with written reports on condition analysis, photo documentation, recommendation and material budget estimates. * Communicate professionally with our customers, Tremco sales representatives and regional sales managers and corporate staff. * Complete weekly/monthly reports, sales activities, proposals and purchase orders. * Travel within the assigned territory, complete expense reports on a timely basis. * Pre-project field inspections and technical support including but not limited to: * Peel tests * Product recommendations * Proper product installation * Product diagnostic support to ensure the contractor is kept out of trouble in misuse of products for the situation. * Provide an on-going sales support, training and development to the contractors, per the direction of the local sales reps. * Be a direct line of contact to the contractors in the designated area, per the local sales reps, to maintain a good working relationship with the existing contractor base, keeping them informed and trained on Tremco s product line and new products introduced. * Develop new contractors in the area, per the local sales team, by training on product systems and their usage. Skills, Qualifications, Experience, Special Physical Requirements: * High School diploma or GED * Associate s degree (AAS), or Trade School Certification, or Bachelor s Degree (BS) preferred. * 5+ years of roofing sales or technical experience in the commercial market. * 2+ years of roofing repair, troubleshooting, or field service experience. * Working knowledge of commercial roofing systems including built-up, modified, single ply, and metal systems. * Must have a valid drivers license and acceptable Motor Vehicle record. * Class B CDL driver s license. * Strong roofing or building science mechanical aptitude. * Prior experience in a field sales and service leadership role. * Practical computer application literacy (including Microsoft Office Suite and learn internal business systems). * In-depth technical understanding and extensive hands-on knowledge of applications of products. Intimate knowledge of product line. * History of working in a field that required autonomy and self-motivation. * Prior experience that demonstrates a strong work ethic and ability to multi-task. * Overnight travel of up to 25% to support assigned customer accounts. The salary range for applicants in this position generally ranges between $60,000 and $70,000.
