Apprentice Boat Builder

Reporting to the local team leader for daily instruction Assignment to current project/product in build Physical build of boat structure and or components for fit out Working with engineering drawings to ensure fit-out is accurate and complete Maintenance of work areas and stations for tool control and tidiness End-of-day wrap-up and close down of production floor, de-brief from team lead

Training:

The apprenticeship training is delivered through a combination of workplace learning and regular college attendance. This training will teach you the knowledge, skills and behaviours set out in the Lean Manufacturing Operative Level 2 standard. On completion, the apprentice will receive EAL Level 2 Diploma in Manufacturing (knowledge and skills) qualification. Functional Skills in maths and English may also be required, depending on current level.   



Training Outcome:

The apprentice would be expected to finish their L2, and move forward to becoming a fully qualified boat builder, choosing to specialise in one of the production areas:

Driven candidates should be looking to complete 3-5 years as a boat builder and apply for internal progression to a team leader or supervisory role within the production areas. Further qualifications can be gained by attending courses with some of our major partners, such as Yamaha and Honda. Boat building skills, working with laminates, and understanding RIB’s is a niche that can lead to a highly fruitful career working with other OEM builders or as self-employed contract work.

Working Hours :
Monday to Friday, 07:00-15:30, with 1x 15 minute paid break at 10:00 and 1x mandatory lunch break of 30 minutes at 13:00.
