Gardener Apprentice

Meet team at the yard or directly at the clients garden Assist in loading tools and understanding the day’s tasks Conduct an initial assessment of the garden to prioritise
job list Engage with clients to maintain a positive rapport,
including casual conversations to understand their requirements  Work discreetly and professionally Perform a variety of gardening tasks including hedge cutting, mowing, border maintenance and pruning Work closely with the team as well as having opportunities to work independently Understanding the aims for each garden, incorporating clients’ desires and planning for future visits Ensure all garden work is left to high standard and taking time to appreciate the garden and the work completed Ending the day by cleaning and maintaining tools, and emptying work vehicles

Training:
Emergency First Aid: Level 3 award in emergency first aid at work Pesticides: Level 2 Principles of Safe Handling and Application
of Pesticide Level 2 Award in the Safe Application of Pesticide Using Hand Held Equipment OR City and Guilds Level 2 Award In The Safe Application of Pesticides Using Pedestrian Hand Held Equipment English and Maths: Apprentices without level 2 English and
maths must achieve level 1 and take the test for level 2 before
taking the end-point assessment Qualification achieved: L2 Horticulture/Landscape Operative

Training Outcome:
For the right candidate there is the potential to obtain full time work following the completion of the apprenticeship There is also the potential to progress onto the level 3 apprenticeship There are also potential opportunities to be offered flexible part time work

Working Hours :
Monday – Friday, 08:00- 16:30 (8 hour day) Weekend work and overtime available.
