Toolmaker Apprentice

Day to day tasks will include:

Using a combination of lathes, presses, grinders and cutting machines Using precision measuring instruments like micromeatres, gauges and coordinate measuring machines (CMM) to check the tool's dimensions Some basic machine maintenance Tool dismantling and diagnosis for repair Tooling improvements  Preventive maintenance of tooling and of the shop's machinery Complete tool reports and ordering of spare parts Implement modifications Fabrication of fixtures and spare parts for tooling  Maintain spare parts system Maintain tooling standards and enhance control documentation  Interface with the new production tooling manager on new tooling  Comply with the quality and environment standards procedures and instructions

Training:

This is a Level 3 Tooling apprenticeship, delivered over a 37 month period.

The apprentice will attend the training centre, In-Comm Training Services in Aldridge, WS9 8UG, 2 and a half days per week for the first 14 months.



Training Outcome:

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, there will be a full-time position available with the company

Monday to Thursday; 7.30am to 4pm. Friday; 7:30am to 12:30pm.
