Apprentice Support Worker

As a Support Worker for people with autism and learning disabilities you will be expected to provide an outstanding level of support that will help to ensure the people we support live a more independent, dignified and happy life
We are looking for forward thinkers who can offer new ideas on how to develop a person’s opportunities and skills ranging from developing their own garden to cooking nutritious and different meals
Not all support work will take place within the homes of the people we support
There will be lots of opportunities to access the local community and engage with the interests of the people you support. They all have different interests and therefore we are looking for flexible and open minded candidates to support with activities such as walking, days out to the cinema or visits to the seaside to name a few
On a daily basis you will have a strong support network from the rest of the team. We are a proactive team and work in partnership to ensure the best support for colleagues is provided, so don’t worry if you are new to care, there is always someone you can turn to
Training:
Training will be at Doncaster College where you will access a wide range of facilities on offer
Day release
You will undertake the Healthcare Support Worker Level 2 standard
You will undertake Functional Skills for English and/or maths if needed

Training Outcome:
Once you have your Level 2 qualification you can undergo your Level 3 which will give you more skills and knowledge and an increased pay rate Lots of our Support Workers move into other roles including Team Leader positions

Established in 1975, Hesley Group provides specialist residential, supported living and further education services. We aim to offer the best possible care, education and vocational opportunities for young people and adults with learning disabilities, often in association with autism and complex care needs, including behaviours of concern.
Working Hours :
Rolling rota of 4 days working, then 2 off, full and part weekends with 1 full weekend off every 6 weeks. Mix of shift patterns including early and late: Weekdays – 7.30am – 2.45pm and 1.45pm – 10pm Weekends – 7.30am – 1.45pm and 1.15pm – 10pm
