Insurance and Claims Apprentice
Attend all designated college and training courses whether by e-learning and /or day release, as required as part of the apprenticeship training program.
Deal with members of the public in a polite and courteous manner and apply the principles of customer care by taking responsibility, ensuring reliability and having respect for all those for who the service is being provided, including colleagues.
Receive and acknowledge insurance claims and correspond with third parties, including legal representatives.
Investigate the circumstances of claims, obtaining information from relevant Directorates.
Discuss claims decisions with claimants/legal representatives.
Assess liability and negotiate settlement of third-party damages and solicitor’s costs within agreed authorisation levels.
Pursue recoveries / contributions from other parties, where appropriate.
Ensure performance indicators are met and compliance with relevant Pre Action-Protocols.
Ensure the validity and consistency of the computerised claims system including updating and extracting claims data.
Contact Directorates to obtain information for the insurance renewal process.
Update and maintain electronic IT systems.
Training:
The training will be online with Davies Training and you will be supported throughout all part of your apprenticeship.
Training Outcome:
There is also the potential opportunity to progress to the Level 4 qualification.

Working Hours :
Monday to Friday, typically 9am to 5pm with access to a flexi scheme. Employees are required to attend their place of work at City Hall, Sunderland, at least 2 days per week, so an element of your work may be undertaken from home.
