Apprentice Mechanical Engineer

Assist in gathering input from stakeholders to help create conceptual designs and models Help identify and resolve design issues on current product ranges under supervision Produce basic 3D models and 2D drawings of designs to a standard that supports manufacturing Assist in developing Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) models for thermal and structural analysis Work with model makers and suppliers to produce functional models for stakeholder reviews Help plan and write test specifications, agree on test deliverables, and assist in arranging test schedules Offer hands-on technical support to Production, Quality, and Test Engineering teams for prototype and production builds Carry out basic testing such as Ingress Protection (IP) tests, vibration, drop, shock, robustness, and assemble-ability Assist in writing test reports, accurately recording relevant data, results, and conclusions Support discussions with toolmakers or suppliers regarding the technical requirements of designed parts Help assess Sample Evaluation Report (SER) to confirm functionality, design intent, and quality of re-tooled or newly sourced parts Participate in peer reviews of own designs and other project team designs

Training:

The apprentice will be required to attend University of Chichester 1 to 1 and a half days a week and work the remaining 4 days.

This apprenticeship will be based at the Bognor campus

Training Outcome:

The apprentice may transition into a full-time position upon successful completion.
