Employer Description:
We are a newly registered day nursery in Potters Bar, recently expanding from an Outstanding childminding setting of 5 years. We work across two main rooms but regularly practice ‘family grouping’ ratios and work together as a whole setting. We have space for a maximum of 30 children. We are based in a scout hut near the Furzefield Leisure Centre and surround by play areas, a large field and woodland area. As we previously spent a lot of time out and about as childminders, we do try to access these local areas as much as possible. We share the space with the scout group but have sole use of the premises between 7am and 5pm Monday-Friday. We are a pack away setting, the manager opens and sets up the setting for 7am opening and we work as a team to put all furniture, resources, and equipment away by 5pm each day. We also have access to two gardens, one of which is solely used by us and does not need to be packed away. Our approach to early learning is child led, open ended and making use of natural/found/real life resources as much as possible. We have moved away from extensive, unnecessary paperwork and focus on our relationships with parents and open communication to support children’s development. We are a very friendly team and both the manager/owner and deputy manager started their careers as apprentices with the manager also completing a level 5 with Hertford Regional College so we are really keen to support new learners and help them progress to their full potential.
