Mechanical Engineering Apprentice
The apprentice will be required to:
Understand and become competent in using various health, safety, and environmental systems in place, to comply with internal and external requirements Progress knowledge learnt from college studies to advance from simple fault resolution to work on complex systems Use a variety of tools to work on hydraulic, pneumatic systems that control and move quantities of molten stainless steel Learn basic knowledge on overhead cranes, gearboxes, cable systems, conveyor systems, fans, belts of large heavy industrial size Learn and develop mechanical principles, working, forming, cutting and joining to ensure production continuity Develop an understanding of the role and importance of the Engineering department within the organisation, and its relationship with customers and their requirements Develop an understanding of the operation of the plant and the production processes within the organisation, and the role of the Engineering department in developing new and existing processes Contribute to the continuous improvement process within the Engineering department and the wider organisation Undertake in-house workshops and seminars Use computer systems effectively to record Engineering activities as required Work within the Engineering department as directed to build knowledge and experience of modern planned maintenance techniques, fault diagnosis/repair, fault analysis and corrective project and development work. Any other duties as reasonably requestedTraining:
Year one will be based full time at Stocksbridge Training Centre.
Year two onwards will be day release at the Advanced Training Centre - Olive Grove Road, Sheffield.
Training Outcome:
Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship there may be the opportunity of a full time permanent position.

Working Hours :
First year at the Training centre will be Monday to Friday and then from yeartwo onwards you will move to a shift pattern with details to be confirmed.
