Produce Design and Development Engineering Apprentice

An exciting opportunity to join an award-winning design team as an Apprentice Design Engineer, based in Clitheroe in Lancashire.  Ultraframe are the UK’s leading designer & manufacturer of conservatories, solid roofing systems & building solutions.  We deliver innovative, high quality conservatory roofs, solid roofs & glazing systems which are designed to transform light & space around the home. We have developed our products to build carbon efficient homes & insulate Britain.

As a business Ultraframe recognises the need to invest in apprentices.  Working to develop an individual’s design skills, supporting them through college whilst providing opportunities to work with experienced personnel. A good knowledge of Ultraframe’s products would be an advantage, however the successful candidate will receive technical training on Ultraframe’s product range & in-house software. Previous experience using CAD/Solidworks would be desirable although not essential. 

Your journey to becoming a Design Engineer over a 4-year period will include the below.

Attending college 1 day per week to attain an HND in Manufacturing Engineering. Gain product knowledge over various design divisions within the company. To learn & follow both quality procedures & design rules for effective product design. Maintain & amend drawings in accordance with ongoing improvement initiatives. Developing existing products & updating the necessary internal systems. Conducting design feasibility studies & developing concepts through to final design & releasing detailed technical drawings. Providing technical assistance to other departments. Various goals will be set, & your performance monitored during the apprenticeship to ensure that they are achieved. Good communication & interpersonal skills are key to this role, & you should take personal pride in your work to ensure good results.

Training:

Working towards a Level 6 Product Design and Development engineering degree apprenticeship. The apprentice will be enroled at Burnley College. 

Training Outcome:

The apprentice may secure full-time employment on successful completion of the apprenticeship.

Monday - Friday, 9.00am - 5.00pm.
