Carpentry apprentice
Some of the key tasks will include but are not limited to the following:
Learning the uses of different types of wood and choosing the right material for the job Understanding technical drawings and how your work will fit within the building. Conducting site surveys Creating design drawings, alongside sketches of the work needed and the specifications. Measuring and marking wood according to technical designs Cutting wood on machines or by hand Working with suppliers and sub-contractors Producing cutting lists Estimating the materials needed for a job Drafting job briefs Using a range of equipment from traditional tools to state-of-the-art computerised cutting equipment and hi-tech drawing and design software Managing production schedules and budgets Conducting quality checks.Training:
You will be completing the Level 2 Site Carpentry apprenticeship. At the end of the apprenticeship, you will gain a grade Pass or Distinction.
If you are 16-18 and don’t have GCSEs grade 4 or above (or equivalents), then you will be required to undertake Level 2 Functional Skills alongside the apprenticeship. If you are 19+ and don’t hold maths and English qualifications, then they are optional alongside the apprenticeship. This will be discussed alongside the Branch Manager to decide whether the maths and English qualifications are included alongside the apprenticeship.
Day-release will be at the Eastbourne campus, once a week, term time only. An assessor will visit you every 10-12 weeks onsite. Please ensure you can travel to this location in East Sussex before applying. Hampden Park Train Station is a 15-minute walk from the station.
There will also be practical training day-to-day at the workplace.
Training Outcome:
Potential permanent full-time employment on successful completion of the apprenticeship.

Based in our purpose built offices and warehouse in East Sussex we effectively cover the whole of the UK, for both the general public and the developer market. The engineered system uses a modular connection, which fits together perfectly every time, improving build times and reducing labour costs. Our oak style timber frame system is also a safe site product as all timbers are cut to manageable lengths. Therefore only two people are needed to carry out an installation.
Working Hours :
Monday to Friday you may be required to start earlier than 8am due to various work locations.
