Premises Support Apprentice
The Premises Support Assistant has the following core duties:
Jointly responsible with the Premises Assistant for daily maintenance and facilities tasks in and around the school premises, providing assistance when requested by staff to set up rooms, move equipment, clean up after pupil illness or accidents etc. and generally facilitate the smooth running of the daily operations Security of the school premises, ensuring all doors and gates are locked at the appropriate time and completing a security sweep of the property before locking up each evening To cover lettings of school premises as appropriate whilst on duty, including opening and locking up and general supervision to ensure that the premises are left in a clean and tidy condition at the end of the letting Supporting the set up or clearance of rooms for out-of-hours functions, either during the week or occasionally over the weekend Undertake internal health and safety checks and keep the grounds clear and safe for play or general movement of pupils, staff, parents or visitors Act as a key Response Person/Fire Marshall in case of Fire or Emergency, assisting with the safe evacuation and liaising where necessary with the emergency services To carry out such minor maintenance work and repairs that do not require the employment of a contractor Working with the Premises Assistant on larger jobs requiring greater manpower and cover for the Premises Assistant's duties and responsibilities when he is absent, which will include working alternative work patterns as required Liaison with maintenance contractors visiting the school to complete essential work During school holiday time, additional focus is placed on larger project improvement works, classroom refurbishment, decorating, grounds repairs etc. To undertake such cleaning tasks as required, for example, toilets Whilst on duty, to liaise with any cleaners to generally oversee the standard of cleaning throughout the buildings, as necessary, to maintain standards. To keep the Facilities Manager informed if cleaning standards have not been achieved. To remove graffiti as required To notify the Facilities Manager if stocks of cleaning and allied materials are running low. To restock towels, soap and toilet paper in toilets, washrooms, classrooms with sinks, etc. To be responsible, within reason, for the removal of simple toilet blockages To assist in ensuring an efficient porterage service, to include the receipt, transporting and storage of goods that have been delivered to the site and the movement of all furniture and equipment. To undertake any other lifting tasks required by the school To ensure that playgrounds, paths and driveways are in a satisfactory condition. Snow clearing and salting as required. Deal with the results of vandalism, advising the Facilities Manager on any necessary preventative measures or repair work Remove graffiti where possible from all areas, windows and other surfaces as required To undertake training/attend courses as appropriate to carry out duties in a safe and efficient manner To ensure duties are undertaken in accordance with Health and Safety Legislation and to wear protective clothing as requiredTraining:
You will receive training, which equates to approx 20% of your working hours e.g., 1 day per week.
Training will include sessions that are mostly online using video conferencing. Training consists of group training sessions, workshops and one-to-one coaching sessions.

There is the potential of gaining a permanent position at the end of the apprenticeship.

Working Hours :
Working hours: Shift-based (does include split shifts) between: 8am - 6pm, Monday to Friday. Applicants must be prepared to work some evenings/weekends if required.
