Apprentice Surveying Technician

Measurement & Estimating Assist in measuring quantities from drawings, plans, and site visits Prepare basic cost estimates for materials, labour, and time. Programmimg softwares, using Asta power project & MS project Data Entry & Document Control Maintain project records, cost databases, and digital documentation Input measurement and cost data into spreadsheets or QS software (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam) Tender Support Help prepare and issue tender documentation Assist in analysing and comparing subcontractor quotations. Site Visits & Inspections Attend site meetings with senior surveyors to observe progress and check quantities Take photographs, notes, and measurements for reporting and valuation Interpreting Technical Documents Read and understand construction drawings and Bills of Quantities (BoQ) Support interpretation of specifications and contract terms Cost Monitoring Help track and record site variations and changes Assist in preparing interim valuations and payment applications Supplier & Contractor Liaison Communicate with suppliers and subcontractors to request quotations or clarifications Attend coordination meetings with project stakeholders when required Health & Safety and Compliance Ensure all tasks are performed in accordance with health & safety regulations Support the team in adhering to construction and contract compliance standards Learning & Development Attend training sessions and complete apprenticeship coursework Shadow experienced QS professionals to gain exposure to different phases of the construction process

Training:

This apprenticeship is delivered as a weekly day release at our campus in Stratford.  You will be required to attend college weekly. 

Level 3 Surveying Technician Standard Behaviour, Skills and Knowledge

Training Outcome:

Registration with a professional body- Quantity Surveyor & (CIOB member) RICS.

Assistant / Junior Quantity Surveyor:

To support senior surveyors with estimating, cost planning, procurement, and contract administration.

Further training and qualifications (e.g., HNC/HND in Construction, NVQ Level 6 or 7).

Working Hours :
Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 5.00pm.
