Freight Forwarding Apprentice

The position will offer the suitable candidate the opportunity to work in one of several departments within the group, together with the opportunity to study for an apprenticeship qualification - International Freight Forwarder Specialist Level 3. This will be coupled with possible future career advances. This interesting role involves handling day to day shipments from origin to delivery, on behalf of our contracted customers.  

Reporting directly to the Freight Forwarding Manager the duties will include:

Providing UK customers with quotations, and deciding the best / most cost-effective method of shipment Working with overseas agents to arrange shipments Tracking shipments Managing & processing bookings, pricing, and associated admin tasks Attending to customs entries and transit documentation (if required) Liaising with Global Partners, sub-contractors, and other colleagues Managing customer expectations via regular communication and updates on the status of their shipments

Training:

On the job training delivered by the employer.

Apprentices without Level 2 English and maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking the end point assessment. For those with an education, health and care plan or a legacy statement, the apprenticeships English and mathematics minimum requirement is Entry Level 3.

Allocation of an apprenticeship delivery coach who will carry out regular training.

Assessment and support visits to ensure you acquire new learning, knowledge skills and behaviours in order to progress and develop.

Identify, track and support 6 hours off the job training activities.
Quarterly formal progress review meetings, identifying learning achievements and next steps.



Training Outcome:

For the right person that successfully completes their probationary period, we would be looking for them to become a full-time permanent member of the team.

Monday - Friday, 9.00am - 5.30pm (w/ 1-hour lunch).
