Teaching Assistant Apprentice

As a Teaching Assistant Apprentice at Tweendykes, you’ll work under the guidance of experienced teaching staff both inside and outside the classroom. You’ll support learners aged from early years to post-16, helping them thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Work under the guidance of the teaching staff to support pupil learning Assist individuals and small groups with tasks and activities Understand how children, young people, and vulnerable adults with complex and Special Educational Needs learn Help maximise pupil progress and attainment across all curriculum areas Support pupils’ personal, physical, social, and mental well-being Attend relevant CPD and training to support your development and the needs of the pupils Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families

Training:

Level 3 Apprenticeship in Teaching Assistant consisting of:

Level 3 Apprenticeship in Teaching Assistant Level 2 Functional Skills in English (if applicable) Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths (if applicable)

You will be required to attend a half-day session with HBTC where you will work towards any functional skills (where needed) that you have to take. There will also be an end point assessment. 



Training Outcome:

After the apprenticeship, there may be an opportunity for you to advance in the workplace or go on to higher education.

Tweendykes School is a community special school and sixth-form for pupils with severe learning difficulties, autism and complex needs between the ages of 3-19. It is based in a new building, co-located with Winifred Holtby secondary school, and has up to 165 places. Tweendykes School is Ofsted rated ‘Outstanding’ and is National Autistic Society accredited. It runs outreach services and training for a wide range of schools and partners. At the heart of its ethos is the belief that every child can reach their potential with the right support. Tweendykes School converted to academy status in May 2013 and joined Humber Education Trust in June 2019.
