Training:All delivery for this apprenticeship will take place within your place of work. A dedicated Vocational Trainer will visit on average once every 4 weeks, to establish a personal learning and development plan, outlining a schedule of training activities and business objectives.
You will complete a mixture of on and off the job training, including workshops, face to face training and online sessions. You’ll also be supported by your colleagues at all times, and will have a full induction.
You will have a review every 8-12 weeks with your Line Manager and Trainer to discuss your progress. About the Role
As our Retail Area Manager, you’ll be at the heart of our retail success, overseeing a network of charity shops, leading a passionate team of shop managers and volunteers, and helping to deliver an excellent customer experience that supports the charity.
You’ll bring fresh ideas, a commercial mindset, and genuine enthusiasm to help grow income and strengthen the charities presence on the high street and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, mentor and support shop managers and volunteers to achieve retail excellence
Oversee performance, budgets, and day-to-day shop operations
Drive sales and profitability through effective merchandising and cost control
Identify and evaluate new shop locations, developing business cases for growth
Support income generation through both in-store and digital channels
Set and monitor shop sales targets, supporting teams to achieve them
Inspire and engage teams through clear communication and encouragement
Explore opportunities to grow our retail footprint and open new shops
Develop digital and online sales opportunities to complement high street stores
About You
Essential:
Proven experience in a senior retail management role (multi-site experience preferred)
Strong leadership and people development skills
Track record of driving commercial results and improving performance
Confident with budgets, reporting, and using data to make informed decisions
Excellent communication and organisational skills
Proficient in MS Office and familiar with EPOS systems
Desirable:
Charity retail experience and/or working with volunteers
Knowledge of Gift Aid, health & safety and HR best practice
Visual merchandising flair
Experience opening or setting up new shops
Other Requirements:
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
Willingness to travel across Dorset
Flexible, proactive, and community-minded
A genuine passion for animal welfare and supporting local communities

To provide day to day support, contributing to ensuring effective and efficient operation of the IT systems, for administration, and teaching and learning, throughout the Academy
To operate the IT helpdesk system, ensuring that records are kept of issues identified, and that suitable solutions are recommended, seeking guidance from line manager where needed
To carry out routine IT tasks and activities as delegated by the Line Manager
To provide support for IT hardware, software, network and operating system problems and queries for both staff and pupils
To assist in installing and maintaining the Academy’s hardware to include all network/servers/workstations/data projectors/printers and teaching aides
To assist teachers and pupils within the classrooms as requested by via the line manager
To provide ICT technical support for Academy events and activities including internal events such as staff briefings, staff training
To support the use of online learning systems and platforms, as well as online media and marketing activities
To assist with the support and maintenance of ICT technical requirements which may include hardware installation, infrastructure change and/or software installation and updates
To carry out routine maintenance tasks in accordance with Academy protocols
To ensure backup procedures are followed
To assist in monitoring and identifying threats to information security, including the student misuse of computers, and to report these to the relevant parties
To undertake any relevant training as required
To participate in the Academy’s performance management process
To undertake any other duties as may be deemed necessary to carry out the role successfully or are commensurate with the role

Training:As an apprentice, you will receive a combination of structured online learning and practical, on-the-job training. You will work towards achieving the Level 3 IT Solutions Technician Apprenticeship standard, supported by experienced mentors and tutors.
