The Role
You will manage a caseload of complex clinical negligence claims, focusing on higher-value cases against NHS Hospital Trusts and GPs. The role involves both pre-issue and issued work, with opportunities to handle catastrophic injury cases, including birth injuries.

What Were Looking For
- Strong clinical negligence experience, ideally with Law Society or AVMA accreditation (support provided if not yet accredited).
- Proven billing track record with experience handling high-value claims.
- Expertise in CPR and Litigation, alongside excellent client care skills.
- Ability to demonstrate empathy and understanding when working with seriously injured claimants.
- Knowledge of Proclaim case management systems (desirable).
- Team player with an organised and efficient approach.
- Willingness to contribute to marketing efforts, including blog writing and attendance at events.

The Role
Our client is a small high street practice with an excellent reputation in the County Durham area. The firm has an extremely low staff turnover and a traditional, friendly feel within the office. You will have the support of a secretary from day one, and you will be managing your own residential conveyancing caseload.
Key Responsibilities
Manageable caseload of around 60 files including sales and purchases, freehold, leasehold and Transfer of Equity.
You will be responsible for raising enquiries, issuing contracts, obtaining searches and processing them, keeping client files up to date and processing mortgage offers.
Regularly keeping in close contact with your client base
About You
Qualified Solicitor, Chartered Legal Executive or Licensed Conveyancer
Previous experience in a residential conveyancing team and managing your own mixed caseload of matters
Confident using a case management system

As an apprentice, you will take part in Clyde & Co’s tailor-made admin assistant training. Year 1 will be cover basic knowledge on how to be a legal secretary and year 2 cover will be their foundation level course. After the two years candidates are invited to apply for permanent positions within Clyde & Co as a legal support assistant. The aim of this programme is to provide someone with their first steps into the legal industry, to help them grow within their role enabling them to go on to become a successful legal support assistant and beyond.
Main Responsibilities:
Standard administrative tasks, i.e. photocopying, scanning, dealing with post, printing, efiling etc.
Scheduling and archiving of documents
Preparing letters and documents to send out
Uploading invoices from 3rd parties and expenses to our finance system

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Patients:
Process appointment requests from patients by telephone and in person
Receive patients and direct to appropriate surgeries
Deal with visit requests
Registration of new patients and temporary residents
Process patients change of address
Process repeat prescription requests in accordance with practice guidelines
Handling, receipt, and efficient filing of prescriptions
Accepting and dispatching specimens to hospital
Have a full understanding of the appointment system

Computer data entry – processing and recording information in accordance with practice procedures
Taking messages and passing on information
Complete workflow tasks within agreed timescales. This may include any of the following areas:
Cytology- recalls and entering results
Processing and allocating Pathology results
Immunisation recalls (including childhood immunisations)
Scanning medical information to patient records
Allocating workflow to doctors
Read coding medical information
Processing out of hours information received electronically
Updating records when a patient is deceased

Medical Records:
Management of Medical Records.
Ensure records are kept neat and tidy and in good general repair.
Ensure any changes in patient details i.e. address telephone numbers etc are altered on the patients’ medical record.
Ensure all patient contacts are documented in the patients’ computerised medical record.
Reception:
On opening the premises check the Doctors rooms, waiting area and reception are heated/ventilated, clean and tidy.
To assist in organising patient appointments, and the passage of information to staff, patients and Health Care providers.
Ensure the surgeries are well stocked with stationery and equipment needed by the Doctors
To receive and exchange routine information between Clinicians, Health Care providers, staff, patients and external agencies.
All duties will initially be overseen by a supervisor with the successful candidate developing to work autonomously and into more complex situations.
The successful candidate will complete all mandatory training required for the role and participate at in house training.
Regular meetings will be held with the supervisor, line manager and course tutor.
Training:Delivery to be completed on site and off the job training either at Barnsley College or your place of work.
