We’re looking for a Sports Coach Apprentice to LEAD, ELEVATE, & MOTIVATE through the power of sports coaching.
You’ll be responsible for:
Delivering a range of PE sessions, after / before-school clubs, lunch clubs and half-term camps at schools.
Working closely with the Operations Manager to develop as a person as well as a sports coach.

The Sports Coach apprentice has an important role to play in improving the health and wellbeing of children, families and communities by delivering fun, inclusive and engaging activities that help to bring about a change in physical activity habits. They will use extensive technical and tactical sports knowledge and skills to design and deliver coaching programmes that engage, motivate and evolve participants’ skills and performance. During this programme, Apprentices will engage with training that will develop and enhance their coaching skills and equip them to work in a variety of environments, with a range of stakeholders and work effectively in partnership with other organisations. In addition to this, there will also be a unique opportunity for candidates to engage with training that will develop and enhance their classroom practice/teaching skills so they can deliver whole class teaching for PE. School Sport Coaches design and deliver coaching programmes that focus on the acceleration of sustainable mastery of children’s psychomotor skills and wider physical education standards. They profile children’s cognitive, social, emotional and physical development needs. They measure psychomotor, technical and tactical skills in a range of physical activity contexts drawn from the Department for Education’s National Curriculum to enable physical education targets to be agreed.
These results are used to create a high-level curriculum plan that considers school term schedules and a ‘whole child’ development approach.
Duties will include:

This dual-role apprenticeship combines hands-on training in bike maintenance with experience delivering inclusive physical activity sessions. HDSF is a registered Charity working across Hertfordshire to support all aspects of physical activity. You’ll work toward a Level 2 Bike Mechanic Apprenticeship while supporting HDSF’s community sport and recreation programmes as an Assistant Instructor.
You will be part of the HDSF delivery team as an Assistant Instructor; supporting the delivery of a wide range of HDSF physical activity sessions, developing a range of personal and professional skills to support your future employment. Move into roles in primary schools as a teaching assistant (with further qualifications).
Progress towards Level 4/5 in Playwork or Early Years (e.g. Early Years Lead Practitioner Level 5 apprenticeship).
Consider pathways into youth work, sports coaching, or community education.

Morning shift: 7:30am until 8:30am.
