While hands-on experience in networking, compliance (especially ISO27001), and team management is essential, the wider stack includes technologies like AWS (EC2, ECS, S3, Cloudfront, Lambda), containerised environments (Kubernetes, Rancher, Docker), monitoring tools (PRTG, Kibana, Cloudwatch), scripting (Powershell, Python), CI/CD tools (Octopus, TeamCity, CodeBuild), Office365, Active Directory, and VOIP. Familiarity is great — but where you're not already an expert, training and support will be provided. We’re working in partnership with a forward-thinking insurance company based in Didcot that’s heavily investing in data and technology to drive smarter decisions and better outcomes for their customers. As part of this growth, they are now seeking a Data Engineer to help shape their data infrastructure and analytics capabilities.
The Role
As a Data Engineer, you’ll play a crucial role in designing and maintaining data pipelines, ensuring data is clean, structured, and accessible for analysis. You'll work with modern data tools and cloud technologies to enable real-time insights and support strategic business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines and solutions for data ingestion, transformation, and delivery.
Use Python to automate data workflows, support ETL processes, and enhance analytics capabilities.
Work with relational databases such as MySQL, Redshift, and PostgreSQL to manage and model structured data.
Leverage AWS cloud services including S3, Redshift, Athena, and Lambda to support data storage, querying, and processing.
Support business reporting and analytics through integration with BI tools like Looker, Power BI, or Tableau.
Collaborate using version control tools such as Git, following best practices for code reviews and collaborative development.

What We're Looking For
Solid experience with SQL and a strong grasp of data modelling concepts.
Proficiency in Python, particularly for data transformation, automation, and analytics.
Hands-on exposure to AWS data services (S3, Redshift, Athena, Lambda) is a strong advantage.
Understanding of BI/reporting tools and how to support business intelligence needs.
Familiarity with version control systems (Git) and collaborative engineering practices.
Interest or experience in web analytics and user behavior tracking tools.

You’ll work closely with Lead Consultants and project teams—contributing from initial requirements through to implementation and support—while also mentoring junior colleagues and supporting pre-sales activities.
What you’ll do:
Play a key role in solution delivery, working within functional and technical teams to ensure smooth and consistent project execution.
Contribute to all phases of implementation—from workshops and requirements analysis to configuration, customisation, release, and environment management.
Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and align requirements with business objectives, gaining a full understanding of existing processes.
Provide expert knowledge of Power Platform and Dynamics 365 CE, assessing customer processes against standard functionality.

Marketing and campaigns
Awareness of add-ons e.g. Click Dimensions/MailChimp/Microsoft Dynamics Marketing).
