We are recruiting an Engineering Stores Controller on a permanent, days-based role (Mon–Fri, 8am–4pm) in Leighton Buzzard with a leading manufacturing company. You will manage daily Engineering Stores operations, process order requests, handle financial reconciliation of stock and orders, and administer the computerised planned maintenance system. The role offers a salary of £34,500 per year.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks:
Engineering parts and consumables stores control and stock allocation
The day-to-day management of the Engineering stores
The development and improvement of Stores organization and inventory control
Develop and control parameters for the Factory based Stores locations
Develop and provide an effective Stores service to the Engineering Department, whilst assisting departmental Managers in the enforcement of the correct administration disciplines to ensure efficiency
Development into controlling the purchasing of all materials and to ensure financial administrative procedures and disciplines are followed
To follow Company preferred supplier base
To control and monitor a perpetual Stores inventory system
Liaise with the Works Office as and when required
Liaise with Suppliers as and when required
Liaise with Engineering Department as required
The compilation of quarterly Store performance reports, to include such areas as increased supplier base, improvements in cost base and service elements
Close involvement with Unit Accounts Department to ensure smooth administrative and financial procedures.
Skills, Qualifications and Attributes:
As Engineering Stores Controller/Stock Controller you will be responsible to the Engineering Manager on a day-to-day basis with line responsibility to the Factory Manager for financial administration
Desirable Managing an Engineering or Stores System – stock control, computer based
Computer literate including Microsoft Word, Excel, (All round IT skills)
Experience of working within a manufacturing or engineering administration or stock control environment is desirable but not essential

You will leverage ServiceNow capabilities (Virtual Agent, Now Assist, Generative AI Controller, IntegrationHub, Flow Designer) and ITIL practices to improve service experiences and operational efficiency while ensuring security, compliance, and measurability.
What you’ll do:
Design, implement, and iterate GenAI use cases on ServiceNow, including Virtual Agent topics, Agent Assist, auto‑summarization, resolution note drafting, KB authoring, and intelligent triage/routing.
Build resilient integrations using Scripted REST APIs, REST Message/SOAP Message, IntegrationHub spokes, Flow Designer, and MID Server for on‑prem systems.
Translate ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change, Request, Knowledge, CMDB, SLA/OLA) into robust AI‑enabled workflows with proper approvals, audit trails, and handoffs.

Implement retrieval and knowledge experiences using AI Search and Knowledge Management; integrate external RAG or vector search when needed via IntegrationHub or sidecar services.
Develop secure, maintainable ServiceNow code: Business Rules, Script Includes, ACLs, Data/UI Policies, Client Scripts, UI Actions, Workspaces/Experience/UI Builder.
Define SLOs/SLAs for AI features; implement telemetry via Performance Analytics, logging, and evaluations; enable A/B testing and human‑in‑the‑loop review where appropriate.
Apply secure-by-design and Responsible AI practices: PII redaction, least‑privilege ACLs, encryption controls, and compliance with organizational and platform guidelines.
Requirements:
4+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years building production integrations or services with JavaScript/TypeScript (Node.js).
Hands-on experience building and consuming REST APIs and SOAP services (OpenAPI/Swagger, WSDL/XSD, XML/JSON, API gateways, request signing, WS-Security).
Demonstrated experience delivering LLM-powered solutions (agents, RAG, tool/function calling, prompt engineering) in production or enterprise pilots.
Working knowledge of ITIL v3/v4 processes.
Experience integrating with ITSM platforms (e.g., ServiceNow, BMC Helix/Remedy, Jira Service Management) and enterprise identity/access controls.
Proficiency with cloud services (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and at least one managed LLM platform (Azure OpenAI, AWS Bedrock, Google Vertex AI, OpenAI API, Anthropic).
Familiarity with vector databases/search (e.g., Pinecone, FAISS, Weaviate, Elastic/ES, Azure AI Search) and embedding pipelines.
Solid understanding of testing and quality for AI systems (unit/integration tests, offline/online evaluation, A/B tests, human-in-the-loop review).
Experience with Git-based workflows and CI/CD (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab, Jenkins, Azure DevOps), containers (Docker), and basic Kubernetes or serverless deployment.
Strong communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
