This is a very varied role and involves:
Working on food processing equipment (pressure cooking vessels, mixers, pastry laminators, pie machines, ovens, automated packing lines etc).
The maintenance team are also responsible for the building fabric, including facilities and site services (refrigeration, steam boilers, air compressors, hot and cold-water systems). Engineers carry out repairs (reactive works) and preventive maintenance.
Involvement with the installation of new equipment and project improvement work. This includes modifications to optimise performance, improve efficiency and methods of operation, increase equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
Training:
Primarily based with the employer.
Apprentices attend Loughborough College 1 day per week, during term time, where they study set units that map directly into the apprenticeship.
A trainer/assessor will arrange visits to the workplace.
