GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The Quality Control Specialist educates WTI personnel on the proper use and application of products, providing installation training both on and off the roof. They oversee large self-performed projects from start to finish, conducting intermittent inspections and performing post-completion inspections of smaller projects. The QCS will conduct regular job site visits during the project and after project completion. The goal is to provide consistency nationwide through proper roof repairs and the application of our products.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure proper execution and delivery of all WTI GS and GC self-performed roofing work. Provide a variety of technical and application training sessions in both field and shop settings. Provide hands-on application training and supervision of roof coatings and installation. Attend pre-cons on large projects. Be present at job start-ups to discuss the proper execution of the scope of work. Visit the projects at specific intervals to assess the completed work and provide any direction or corrective advice. Perform a pre-final inspection to ensure that the project has a zero-punch list. Perform final inspections when needed. Pre-project field inspections and technical support, including but not limited to: Peel tests Product testing Product recommendations Proper product installations Post project completion inspection to ensure quality workmanship and proper utilization and application of materials. Product diagnostic support to ensure that WTI is kept out of trouble due to misuse of products in the situation. Conduct roof inspections, providing written reports and photo documentation. Conduct on-site safety audits to ensure all safety requirements are met and consult with the safety team as needed. Review and train on large warranty adjustment projects over ten (10) man days. Communicate professionally both verbally and in writing with our Technicians, Foremen, Supervisors, Field Operations Managers, Regional Business Managers, Corporate Staff, and the Sales Team. Complete daily reports including DTA's, Safety Audits, Truck Audits, and QC Inspection Reports as necessary and applicable. Complete weekly/monthly activity reports as requested. Support the region as needed when weather conditions prevent the fulfillment of daily job responsibilities. Facilitate training in a classroom setting. All other Quality Control Inspection-related tasks or training as assigned by the manager. Travel predominantly within the assigned territory and nationally as needed, and complete and submit expense reports on a timely basis.
EXPERIENCE:
5+ years of roofing, roofing repair, troubleshooting, or field service experience. Working knowledge of commercial roofing systems, including built-up, modified, single ply, and metal. Working knowledge of roof coating systems.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Strong roofing or building science mechanical aptitude. Prior experience in a field service leadership role. During your apprenticeship, you’ll be embedded in Babcock's Skynet Service Delivery Wrap (SDW) programme. The Skynet system provides secure satellite communications to the UK and NATO armed forces, enabling personnel to stay connected anytime, in any environment, anywhere on Earth.
You’ll work four days a week from one of our key engineering locations – either Hawthorn (Corsham) or Oakhanger (Bordon) – where our teams help to maintain and modernise the UK’s sovereign space communications infrastructure. Accommodation expenses will be covered when travel away from your home base is necessary, including visits to Babcock locations such as Ashton House (Bristol).
As you progress, you’ll rotate through our Skynet SDW engineering teams, gaining insight into how each area supports the wider system. One day you might be supporting upgrades to communications systems on a Royal Navy warship; the next, testing advanced satellite devices or helping to redesign systems that integrate newly launched spacecraft. Training:
During your apprenticeship, you will study for a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours (BEng) in Space Systems Engineering through the University of Portsmouth.

This blend of theory and practice will help you build a deep and practical understanding of how space systems operate and evolve. You’ll also develop valuable skills in systems engineering, hardware design, and coding.
During term time, you’ll typically spend one day per week at university and four days embedded in Skynet engineering activities. Additional study time will be provided during exam periods and for university project work, ensuring you have the support you need to succeed academically.

A Multi-Skilled Vehicle Accident Repair Technician repairs all elements of a vehicle after it has taken some type of collision damage. This will involve learning the skills required to take an accident-damaged vehicle through various stages of repair to the pre-accident condition.
These fall into three main areas of skills training:
MET-Mechanical, Electrical & Trim. Candidates will learn to remove and refit processes of all main vehicle systems, including air conditioning, vehicle alignment and Hybrid & Electric vehicle systems
Panel-repair. Candidates will learn to repair bodywork by replacing panels, filling defects and carrying out techniques such as welding, bond and riveting and correcting misalignment
Paint-surface repair. Candidates will learn how to prepare surfaces and carry out paint refinishing through the following techniques; sealing, masking, priming, application of base coat & lacquer, repairing defects and polishing
Duties will include:
Accurately and skilfully undertake all aspects of the motor vehicle body repair
Detect and diagnose any additional faults for further repair
Working under direct supervision at all times to achieve full competence and qualification
Ensure all work is completed safely and complies with manufacturer and British Standard industry guidelines
Any other ad hoc duties and when required
In addition to this, you will also gain IMI qualifications in air conditioning, electric vehicle (EV) systems, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), and welding
Training:
The programme for the Multi-Skill Accident Repair Apprenticeship level 3 incorporates underpinning knowledge delivered in partnership and managed by EMTEC College based in Nottingham. You will be required to travel to Nottingham for 7 separate weeks across each year. Travel and accommodation costs with be covered by Halo
Apprentices will be required to have or achieve level 2 in English and maths prior to completion of their apprenticeship
Regular review and welfare visits from appointed assessors who will observe all evidence opportunities that occur naturally in the workplace
