Warehouse Operative Apprentice

Our immediate requirement is for a Warehouse Operative Apprentice to be a key part of our Egham team. Start your journey to becoming a proficient warehouse operative, developing a knowledge of day-to-day tasks, including safe handling of goods and the accuracy of picking products and processing them ready for shipment. This is an exciting opportunity for a Warehouse Operative Apprentice to join an established operation with scope to drive and enhance the service at every opportunity. Key Responsibilities: Learn and become familiar with all departmental policies and processes and support the team ensuring they are followed. Familiarise yourself with the process bringing "Goods in" for all deliveries, ensuring this is done efficiently and accurately. Learn how to pick goods from the order paperwork, ensuring this is processed accurately. Become familiar with how stock is located in the warehouse, making sure that it is stored safely and recorded accurately on the system. Ensuring daily pick requests are completed on time and are accurate. This covers both internal and external pick requests for equipment, consumables and any other requested items. Ensure returns are processed correctly and coordinated with the Returns team. Investigate and report on missing items or pick queries. Ensuring deliveries and collections to and from proAV House are processed correctly and on time. Learn about the vesting requests, when the goods are identified and clearly marked, including photos and coordination with requestors. Conduct and support annual stocktake. Liaising with different departments within the business to ensure that deadlines are achieved, and communications are effective. Familiarise yourself with the Health and Safety rules and polices and ensure they are applied at all times. Conduct best practice on housekeeping, ensuring the warehouse environment is kept safe, clean and tidy at all times. Able to work alone but also able as part of a team. A methodical and tidy approach. Familiarity with modern warehousing practices and methods. Performing warehouse inventory controls and rolling stock checks. Refrigeration Apprentice
In your daily work, you will interact with venue personnel, such as chefs, catering managers, facilities managers, managers/owners and kitchen staff. Personnel from equipment manufacturers technical support services, and equipment and spares suppliers’ sales and technical staff. You may also liaise with Environmental Health Officers and other trades personnel, such as builders, electricians etc. Internally, you will interact with company management, office staff and other technicians. Installations involve unpacking and in some cases assembling equipment, connecting in accordance with the equipment manufacturer’s instructions to suitable services (gas, electricity, water and drainage) and commissioning. Where an installation involves the removal of equipment, engineers disconnect the redundant item, remove it to a safe area for disposal and make safe any services no longer required. On maintenance visits, engineers visually inspect the equipment, check the services for any problems, carry out maintenance tasks as specified by the manufacturer, and test the equipment is functioning as designed. On repair visits, engineers establish the problem from the customer, check the faulty item to confirm the problem, diagnose the fault, adjust or repair or replace faulty components, and test the equipment after repair to ensure that it is working correctly. Engineers are qualified and registered with F-gas for the types of appliances they are working on and retain their competency. Once qualified you will be responsible for planning your schedule and logistics to meet customers’ requirements and location. Reporting to the correct person in the customer’s premises and agreeing the purpose of their visit and managing customer expectations. At all times, presenting a professional image of the company. Engineers largely work on their own and unsupervised – self-managing, however occasionally on maintenance visits to larger kitchens, you may work alongside other Engineers or a Supervisor. You must ensure the quality and accuracy of work carried out, ensuring the health, safety and welfare of self and others - working in line with legislation. You will have the authority to determine action, including the disconnection or isolation of equipment. You will be responsible for ensuring that your tools and equipment are fit for purpose and that your work vehicle is roadworthy. Exhilarating and fun-loving cultureFlexible work environmentBe a part of the growth of one of Vancouver’s most iconic institutionsJoin a diverse, passionate and enthusiastic team What will you do this year?In your role as a Tradesperson II - Millwright, your primary accountabilities will be to: Rebuild and/or repair of rides & attractions as specified.Perform accurate and timely ride inspections.Maintain all required service records and logs.Make recommendations for improvements, modification, upgrades and report findings to Supervisor on a timely basis.Assist with major overhauls, modifications and alterations as required.Ensure the safe operation of each work area and each work project.Participate and lead safety related discussion in Toolbox Talks meetings.Meet all required training obligations, including attendance, active participation, exam writing and meeting any other certification required.Provide direction to junior technicians as required.Assist with general cleaning, inspection and reassemble equipment as needed.Responsible for assisting with daily preventative maintenance program.Install new equipment.Maintain a safe and clean working environment.Safely operate mobile equipment (forklifts, scissor lifts, zoom booms).Perform other related duties as assigned. Must have successful completion of Grade 12.Successful completion of post-Secondary training to a Trades Qualification (TQ) or equivalent industry experience.Mechanic or Millwright license preferred.Valid British Columbia Class 5 driver’s license (must provide driver’s abstract).Required to be a designated member of the High Angle Rescue team.Must obtain NARSO / AIMS license after completing the required hours.Experience in a diverse industrial environment.Strong mechanical aptitude and strong communication skills both written and oral.Ability to work both day and afternoon shifts, weekends and holidays as required.Proven abilities to problem solve, trouble shoot and work with deadlines.Strong interpersonal skills, including tact, diplomacy and flexibility to work effectively with management, staff, contractors and guests.Ownership of tools and safety boots a must.Exposure to machining equipment an asset.Diverse background trouble shooting hydraulics an asset.Welding experience is an asset (SMAW all position CWB certified welder/fitter).Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions.Occupational First Aid Level II is an asset.Required to meet the physical demands of the job including weights of up to 23kg, heights of 70m, frequent standing, walking, twisting, reaching, bending, crawling and ability to work with ladders.Successful candidates must undergo a Criminal Record Check.
