Bookkeeping (Core Responsibility)
Maintain accurate and up-to-date bookkeeping records for a portfolio of clients.
Process purchase invoices, sales invoices, receipts, payments, journals and accruals/prepayments.
Perform bank reconciliations, credit card reconciliations, and control account reconciliations.
Ensure all financial data is correctly coded and compliant with accounting standards.
Monthly Management Accounts (Core Responsibility)
Prepare monthly management accounts for clients, including P&L, balance sheet, aged debtor/creditor reports, variance analysis, and cashflow insights.
Review bookkeeping for completeness and accuracy prior to producing reports.
Identify trends, anomalies, and issues within client accounts, raising queries where necessary.
Work closely with the business owner to agree presentation style, reporting templates, and key performance indicators.
Provide clear explanations of month-end results and support clients with understanding their financial performance.
Payroll
Support the payroll process when required.
Initially, payroll may be handled by the business owner while you become familiar with the workflow and client requirements.
Assist in maintaining payroll records and processing basic monthly changes (e.g., starters/leavers, hours, adjustments).
Additional Responsibilities
Assist with VAT submissions and ensure deadlines are met.
Communicate directly with clients to obtain information or clarify queries.
Maintain organised digital records and contribute to improving internal processes.
Credit Control
Monitor outstanding customer invoices and ensure timely collection of payments.
Produce and review aged debtor reports to identify overdue accounts.
Send reminder statements, follow up by email/phone, and escalate overdue debts when required.
Maintain accurate records of all contact with customers regarding outstanding balances.
Work with clients to resolve invoice disputes quickly and professionally.
Identify recurring payment issues and highlight them to the business owner.
Training:The Level 4 Professional Accounting Technician AAT apprenticeship standard includes 4 AAT exams, in addition to the Synoptic Assessment as part of the End-Point Assessment (EPA) process.
The knowledge units will be delivered at the EMA training hub in Derby, or online (depending on apprentices’ location) through day release.

You will engage in full time study at college during your first year with the business and will complete projects during college holidays. From year 2, you will participate in part-time study for subsequent years of the apprenticeship to achieve a Technical Certificate; the Level 3 Engineering and Manufacturing Support Technician apprenticeship.
Subject to aspiration, performance and business need, you may have the opportunity to progress to HNC/D and potentially pursue a bachelor’s degree or other part-time further education after your apprenticeship.
From Year 2, you will undertake a series of objective training placements in different departments working on initial design all the way through to manufacture and distribution.
These may include:
Product Design - combining knowledge of design, engineering, and manufacturing processes to create innovative new products
Experimental Prototyping – Create prototype parts using cutting edge additive manufacturing equipment and CNC machines
Research and Development Lab – Rigorous development testing of new and existing products to British and International Standards
New Product Integration – Design and implementation of new production lines and specification of automated machinery
Assembly and Manufacturing Engineering – Front line problem solving and improvement projects in the manufacturing area
Electronics – Hardware and software design, development, and testing for new and existing products
Where applicable, you may also experience business functions outside of Engineering, such as Finance, Customer Service and Sales to gain a full understanding of our business. Regular time for self-reflection and review, and one-to-ones with your manager will be in place. You will also be able to access, and utilise, our comprehensive Associate training courses and materials. This will support you to regularly review your strengths and areas for development, and for two-way feedback.

Key Responsibilities
Working under the guidance of experienced engineers, you will:
Assist with setup, testing, and operation of live event audio systems, including PA systems, press conference setups, and stage monitoring.
Support Media Interview zones, ensuring clean, reliable audio capture and distribution for broadcasters and journalists.
Learn to configure and operate Digital Mixing Consoles and networked audio systems using Dante.
Prepare and maintain Radio Microphone and IEM systems, ensuring frequency coordination and interference-free operation.
