Support for pupils
To work with individuals or groups of children under the supervision of the Inclusion Team to assist with the delivery of programmes of work and implementation of IEPs.
To assist with the supervision and provide particular support for pupils, including those with special needs ensuring their safety and access to learning activities.
Give regular feedback on progress to the SENCO and file records.
Attend to children’s personal needs, including pastoral, social, health, physical hygiene, and minor first aid and welfare matters.
Establish good relationships with pupils, acting as a role model by presenting a positive personal image and responding appropriately to individual needs.
Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils.
Encourage pupils to act independently as appropriate.
Support for the teachers
Undertake pupil record keeping and updating records, information and data, producing reports as required.
Establish constructive relationships with parents/carers and report on information from parents/carers to the SENCO.
Assist with the monitoring of pupils’ responses to learning activities and accurately record achievement/progress as directed.
Assist with the routine marking of pupils’ work.
Support for the Curriculum
Undertake structured and agreed learning activities/programmes, adjusting activities according to pupil responses and recording achievement and progress and providing feedback to the SENCO.
Support the use of ICT in learning activities and develop pupils’ competence and independence in its use.
Support for the School
Be aware of and comply with child protection procedures, health and safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting any concerns to the relevant member of staff.
Assist in maintaining high standards of health and safety at all times.
Maintain good relationships with colleagues and work together as a team.
Assist in the supervision of classroom and outdoor activities.
Assist with the supervision of small groups of pupils for short periods when the teacher is not present.
Contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of the school.
Be aware of and support difference and ensure all pupils have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop.
Attend relevant meetings.
Participate in training, including relevant learning strategies and other learning activities and performance management where required.

Supporting Learning and Development
Provide learning programmes tailored to individual or groups of children, appropriate to their developmental stages and needs, in accordance with Early Years legislation and guidance.
Assist in planning and delivering stimulating activities that promote physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development.
Supervision and Environment Management
Supervise designated areas or rooms within the early years setting, managing the ratio of children to adults to ensure safety and effective learning.
Maintain a high-quality environment that is safe, welcoming, and conducive to learning, ensuring all health and care needs of pupils are met.
Ensure resources and equipment are used appropriately, cleaned, and stored safely.
Communication and Partnership with Parents/Carers
Communicate regularly with parents and carers, sharing information about children’s progress and developmental needs in a sensitive and professional manner.
Promote positive relationships between the setting and the wider community, supporting the school’s inclusive ethos.
Teamwork and Inclusion
Work collaboratively with the early years team to provide a consistent, high-quality provision that reflects the school’s values of respect, inclusion, and care for all pupils.
Encourage positive self-image and respect for diversity, supporting children and families regardless of cultural heritage, race, religious beliefs, disability, or gender.
Health, Safety, and Compliance
Follow all health and safety policies and procedures rigorously, adhering to legislative and organisational guidance.
Understand and comply with all school policies and procedures, including safeguarding, reporting any concerns or non-compliance immediately to management.
Promotion of the Setting
Actively promote the early years setting to parents and the community, contributing to the school’s reputation as a calm, inclusive, and supportive environment.
Self-awareness and Professional Responsibility
Demonstrate a clear understanding of own role and areas of responsibility within the team.
Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.

Level 3 Early Years Educator at Redcar & Cleveland College.
Functional skills Maths and English, if required.

To support fellow educators/practitioners in delivering the setting’s curriculum and standard of practice
To work towards an early years qualification with support from the setting’s staff and training provider
To seek support from members of the team to assist your learning
To work closely with children aged 0-5 years old, looking after their daily needs such as feeding, nappy changing and toileting
To work as part of a team to deliver and meet the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage for all children
To plan, provide and support age-appropriate play opportunities in line with the curriculum and individual needs of the children in your care
To ensure the safeguarding and welfare of all children in your care
To observe, assess and record children’s learning and development progress
Provide an enabling environment that meets the needs of each unique individual child
To build and maintain positive relationships with parents/carers.
To adhere to and follow the setting’s policies and procedures.
To attend regular team meetings
To ensure standards of health and safety, hygiene and cleanliness are maintained at all times
To attend additional training events and meetings as identified by the Setting Manager for training requirements
To liaise and work in partnership with external agencies (both statutory and voluntary) to supportchildren within the setting as appropriate

Training:
A high level of support with monthly tutor visits and taught lessonsWork alongside qualified professionals whilst undertaking on-the-job training
At the end of the course, a Level 3 Early Years Educator qualification will be awarded and Paediatric First Aid
