Senior Authorised Person – Solar Farms Location: “M1 corridor” – Site based with frequent travel Role Climate17 are working alongside a fully vertically integrated renewable energy business who develop, build, own and operate a significant portfolio of large scale solar and wind assets across the UK. They are actively looking to hire a Senior Authorised Person to attend customers' sites to oversee and manage High Voltage operations on their utility-scale solar PV assets. The SAP will be responsible for ensuring the safe operation, maintenance, and compliance of HV systems, acting alongside the Control Engineer as the primary authority for switching, isolation, and issuing safety documentation. Responsibilities Routine maintenance, testing, and remedial work on deployed solar PV systems.Lead and supervise HV maintenance activities, fault response, and emergency operations.Planning with Control Engineer and other SAP’s and performing HV/LV Preventative Maintenance accordingly.Responsible for HV operation, such as switching and repair works as occur and as guided by the appointed Control and External Authorising Engineer.Issuing Permit to Work, Limitation of Access and Sanction to Test where appropriate.Responsible for performing Corrective Maintenance and upgrades to HV infrastructureOwn risk assessment, analysis and operational limitations. Report all safety incidents and learning opportunities to line manager.Responsible for supervision and coordination of third-party contractors on site.Liaise with DNOs, Client and other stakeholders as required.Ensure compliance with Electricity at Work Regulations, BS767 etc.Keeping accurate and detailed records of electrical testing, that are suitable for audit.Providing support to the Field Service Engineers in fault finding for any system that is not performing correctly.Following company and site-specific method statements and risk assessments.Following company and owner procedures, plans, and guidelines as well as all pertinent legislation and regulations/standards.Requirements 5+ years’ experience in HV operations, ideally within renewable energy or utility-scale solar.Recognised SAP authorisation from a UK DNO or UK equivalent training provider.Strong understanding of HV protection systems, transformers, switchgear, and grid compliance.Electrical engineering degree or HNC/HND in a relevant discipline.Excellent knowledge of UK electrical safety regulations and industry best practices.Experience with SCADA systems, remote monitoring, and digital asset management platforms – desirableFamiliarity with battery storage systems and hybrid renewable installations – desirableFull UK driving license and willingness to travel nationwide.About Us Climate17 is a purpose-led, international Renewable Energy & Sustainability recruitment firm. Complete on-the-job training, including shadowing and supporting your mentor Keep a diary of all daily activities up to date at all times (diary format will be provided and coaching given on how to complete this) Ensure job sheets/service reports relating to equipment fault finding, maintenance, service and repair, are completed to company standards and submitted on time, and that a copy is kept for referencing purposes Provide a high level of customer service and address any customer queries Follow all reasonable and lawful instructions, including those relating to Health and Safety Project a professional image by wearing the Company Uniform at all times whilst on duty and at external and internal training courses Escalate to their Team Leader or Service Delivery Manager, in a timely manner, any serious or potentially unresolved issues which may affect safety, compliance and customer/supplier relationships Ensure all Health and Safety requirements are always adhered to, reporting any potential hazards to the senior management team Training:Year 1 – You will complete on the job training with your mentor and other engineers. You will learn to support an engineer and perform basic tasks under supervision. Year 2 – You will continue to work under the supervision of your mentor, and will begin to perform tasks alongside qualified engineers. Your work will be checked and signed off by qualified engineers. Year 3 – You will be able to independently perform routine servicing and minor repairs. Your work will be checked and signed off by qualified engineers. Year 4 – Subject to completing your apprenticeship qualification you will be qualified to perform routine servicing, minor and major repairs independently and to sign off your own work. You continue to receive support from your mentor and other engineers as needed. Financial Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate and up to date records of purchase invoices and payments This includes data entry and filing Bank & Credit Card reconciliation: Reconcile all transactions and identify any issues or request backup documents and invoices Invoice Processing: Receiving and recording invoices from suppliers This involves obtaining dual authorisation signatures from members of staff that are authorised to raise purchase and works orders and the department manager responsible for the delivery of the works  Supplier Relationship management: Acting as a point of contact for suppliers, handline queries, and resolving discrepancies related to invoices and payments Reconciliation of Supplier Statementsl Comparing supplier statements to the Company’s records to ensure accuracy Resolve any issues to a satisfactory conclusion Petty Cash: Manage petty cash by issuing reimbursement for purchases with a valid receipt, adhering to the Company’s procedure. Maintain the petty cash ledger and reconcile at each month end, balancing to the physical count Producing Reports: Produce and distribute reports for the department as required by the Company Accountant. This will mainly be ones delivered to site and will need to be checked with the engineer.
