The Gemini Apprenticeship Programme provides you with an exciting and challenging opportunity to achieve formal qualifications through extensive product training, while in full-time employment. A Multi-Skilled Vehicle Accident Repair Technician repairs all elements of a vehicle after it has taken some type of collision damage.
This will involve learning the skills required to take an accident damaged vehicle through various stages of repair to the pre-accident condition.
These fall into three main areas of skills training:
MET-Mechanical, Electrical & Trim. Candidates will learn to refit processes of all main vehicle systems including air conditioning, vehicle alignment and Hybrid & Electric vehicle systems
Panel-repair. Candidates will learn to repair bodywork by replacing panels, filling defects and carrying out techniques such as welding, bond and riveting and correcting misalignment

Regular visits to the dealership from EMTEC Vocational Learning Advisors will take place, who will observe all evidence opportunities that occur naturally in the workplace
Candidates will be expected to engage in self-directed learning outside of normal working hours, which will be monitored and tracked through an online e-portal. Operate and support the setup of CNC machines to produce precision components to exact specifications
Carry out routine checks and maintenance to ensure optimal machine performance
Work within a lean production environment, supporting 5s, continous improvement, and process optimisation
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, learning from experienced engineers and contributing to a culture of exellence
Training:This is a level 3 Machining Technician Apprenticeship over a duration of 30 months. The apprentice will be required to attend the training centre, In-Comm Training Services, in Aldridge, WS9 8UG, for the first 7 months as part of the training.Training Outcome:Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, there will be a full-time position available and the opportunity for continuous training onto a Level 4 HNC qualification.Employer Description:With over 140,000 IMI Truflo Marine valves in service among 36 of the world’s naval fleets, we supply high quality valves for any submarine or surface vessel system. Assisting in the setup, operation, and maintenance of CNC Lathes and Milling machines.
Learning to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Learning to measure and inspect finished parts using verniers/micrometres/height gauges etc.
Follow standard operating procedures and safety guidelines at all times.
Training:You will be required to attend Advance 1 Campus, Dudley College, 1 day per week in term time only.
You will be assigned an assessor who will visit you every 8 weeks in the workplace to support you on your apprenticeship.
Upon successful completion of your apprenticeship, you will receive a Machining Technician Level 3 qualification.
Training Outcome:Full-time permanent employment.Employer Description:Precision Chains are a well established engineering company based in the Dudley. We have been manufacturing conveyor and escalator chains since 1957 and most recently being bought out by John King Chains. Between the site in Dudley we employee in excess of 150 men and women manufacturing from base raw material to finished chain.
