Working as a Teaching Assistant Apprentice you will:
Raise standards of achievement for students by providing support to through 1-1 and group activities whilst additionally supporting teaching staff
Promote independence and employ strategies to recognise and reward achievement of self-reliance
Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all Pupils within the classroom
Support programmes for teaching literacy and numeracy and assist pupils to access the full curriculum
Supervise pupils in the playground and organise playtime activities
Ensure the physical welfare of pupils, assist pupils with their physical needs as appropriate, and agreed
Where necessary support with extra-curricular activities ranging from breakfast and lunch clubs to sports days and school trips
Training:
Teaching Assistant Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard
Training will be carried out at the school or online on a weekly basis
Training schedule has yet to be agreed, details will be made available at a later date
Training Outcome:
Upon completing a Teaching Assistant apprenticeship, individuals can progress to become Specialist Teaching Assistants, specialising in areas like special education behaviour management
Attaining a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) role is another option, involving increased responsibilities in classroom management and lesson planning
Some Teaching Assistants may pursue further qualifications and transition into teaching through programs like PGCE or SCITT

Job Responsibilities
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
Support pupils with SEND both in the classroom and during outdoor activities.
Work closely with teaching staff to implement tailored learning plans.
Assist in preparing learning resources and classroom materials.
Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teachers.
Support the development of pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural skills.
Qualifications/Experience
To be successful as an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will have:
Enhanced DBS Certificate with the Update Service.
Right to work in the UK.
A passion for supporting children with additional needs.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Previous experience working with children with SEND is desirable but not essential.

As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
Provide individualised 1:1 support for a pupil with additional learning needs, helping them access the full curriculum.
Implement strategies and interventions outlined in the pupil’s EHCP in collaboration with teachers and the SENCO.
Support emotional regulation and behaviour management using positive, proactive approaches.
Adapt learning materials and classroom activities to meet specific learning styles and developmental goals.
Foster independence, confidence, and communication through consistent encouragement and structured routines.
Work collaboratively with staff, parents, and external professionals to ensure effective, joined-up support.
Qualifications/Experience
Proven experience as a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, ideally supporting pupils with autism, ADHD, or social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
Strong understanding of differentiated learning and inclusive practice.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Must have worked with children with complex and challenging needs.
Enhanced DBS Certificate registered with the Update Service.
Right to work in the UK.
