Teach Plus are currently working with a 2-form entry, ‘Outstanding’ primary school located in Hillingdon, who are seeking a PPA Cover Teacher to join them at the start of the new academic year.
The school implements research-based evidence informed practice, ensuring that all staff members work together to develop practice, resulting in students achieving their full potential. Regular CPD and INSET days are held to support the development of all staff, encouraging different pedagogical approaches. They also prioritise the mental health and wellbeing of all staff and pupils through various methods and events within the school.
The PPA Cover Teacher is a full-time ongoing position to start in September 2025, this role can be suitable for an ECT or for experienced teachers, you will be required to cover lessons from Reception – Year 6, be flexible and adaptable.
As a PPA Cover Teacher, you will be required to:
Teaching classes during PPA or other release sessions across the school from Nursery to Year 6
Understand and be able to use a range of strategies to deal with classroom behaviour as a whole and also individual behavioural needs; to promote effective behaviour.
Provide a calm, constructive working environment to enable the pupils to carry out the planned work/activities in the absence of the class teacher.
Promote the inclusion of all pupils.
Mark any completed work in accordance with the marking policy.
Deal with any immediate problems or emergencies within the class, according to the school’s policies and procedures.
The ideal candidate for the PPA Cover Teacher role will have:
Strong knowledge of the UK National Curriculum
Experience teaching in primary schools in the UK
A flexible, can-do attitude and be able to adapt quickly to new environments
A strong work ethic who is willing to commit for at least one academic year
UK recognized Teaching Qualification with QTS
Enhanced DBS Certificate with the Update Service

Our PE & Sports coach apprentices have an important role to play in improving the health & wellbeing of children by delivering fun, inclusive and engaging activities that help to change physical activity habits. The apprentice will support the delivery of PE in schools, deliver extra-curricular clubs and lunch clubs, and work in our holiday camps.
School Sport Coaches design and deliver coaching programmes that focus on the acceleration of sustainable mastery of children’s psychomotor skills and wider physical education standards. They profile children’s cognitive, social, emotional and physical development needs. They measure psychomotor, technical and tactical skills in a range of physical activity contexts drawn from the Department for Education’s National Curriculum to enable physical education targets to be agreed. Main responsibilities and tasks

Under the guidance of teachers, the apprentice will be involved in working with children to support the education, personal and social development of pupils.

Ensuring classroom IT, AV equipment and software is maintained and ready to be used, taking into account the requirements of teaching staff
Maintenance of device, including organising termly checks on trolleys and IT suites to ensure they fully function for students to use
Supporting the smooth running of all school systems ensuring that all critical systems are working and if there is an issue with them it is resolved quickly and efficiently
Monitoring the schools e-safety/filtering software, including checking and adding/removing websites from relevant staff/student filters
Maintaining new and existing accounts are working within the school’s local network through Active Directory, Group Policy, and Office 365/Azure
Supporting Students and Staff with access to school communication systems such as Class Charts
To support school staff in in improving their knowledge of IT systems which will help their knowledge and use of IT within the school, including Cloud services such as Office 365
To participate in training and other learning activities and performance development as required
Support faculties to utilise the IT they have available in their classrooms and help them to identify how new technologies could improve the experience for staff and students
Health and Safety:
Ensure maintenance of specialist equipment, check for quality and safety, and undertake repairs if suitable, as required, arranging other repairs or modifications to be carried out
Undertake Health and Safety in the workplace training

Undertake personal development through training and other learning activities
Attend and participate in meetings as required
Be aware of and comply with policies relating to child protection, health and safety, security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting concerns as appropriate

Duties and Responsibilities
Support for Pupils
Attend to the pupils’ personal needs and implement related personal programmes, including social, health, physical, hygiene, first aid and welfare matters.
To supervise and support pupils, ensuring their safety and access to learning.
Establish good relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and being aware of and responding appropriately to individual needs.
Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils.
Encourage pupils to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher.
Encourage pupils to act independently as appropriate.
Support pupils in accessing learning activities as directed by the teacher.
Support for the Teacher
Prepare the classroom as directed for lessons and clear afterwards and assist with the display of pupils' work.
Be aware of pupil problems/progress/achievements and report to the teacher as agreed.
Undertake pupil record keeping as requested and other basic record keeping.
Support the teacher in managing pupil behaviour, reporting difficulties as appropriate.
Gather/report information from/to parents/carers as directed.
Provide clerical/administrative support e.g. photocopying, typing, filing, collecting/recording money etc.
Ensure the maintenance of a clean and orderly working environment.
Timely and accurate preparation of routine equipment/resources/materials as set out in the instructions.
Assist the teacher with learning activities, ensuring health and safety and the good behaviour of pupils.
Support for the Curriculum
Support pupils to understand instructions.
Support pupils in respect of aspects of learning with the curriculum.
Support pupils in using basic ICT as directed.
Prepare and maintain equipment/resources as directed by the teacher and assist pupils in their use.
Monitor and arrange orderly and secure storage of supplies.
Operation of everyday equipment in accordance with instructions.
Maintenance of everyday equipment, check for quality/safety.
Undertake simple repairs and report other damages.
Training:Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship Standard:
The Level 3 Apprenticeship is delivered in partnership with the workplace; you will be expected to attend college 1 day a month, where you will gain knowledge and understanding of working within the early years sector.
You will develop skills on the job where you will be supported by a workplace mentor.
An Assessor from Leeds City College will visit you on a regular basis to support your learning journey.
The Apprenticeship framework comprises of:
Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship Standard.
End point assessment:
Observation with questions.
Professional discussion underpinned by a portfolio of evidence.
